Bonnie Billy in NYC!!

Not a ton of people know who Bonnie 'prince' Billy is... His real name is Will Oldham and he's put out music under the names of: Palace Brothers, Palace Music, Palace, Will Oldham & Bonnie 'prince' Billy. He even put a CD out under no name, it was Just called "Arise Therefore". Last year he toured with Bjork & Sigur Ros (I missed that tour!!)

Well, he just put a new CD out called Superwolf which is absolutley tremendous! I've been listening to it non-stop.

You might recognize one of his songs; Johnny Cash covered a Bonnie Billy song on his American III CD. The song was "I See a Darkness"

Anyway, the whole reason I started writing this entry is Bonnie Billy is cumming to NYC this Saturday and is doing a full day record store tour (see the bottom of the page). I pretty damn psyched to see him. I also got tickets to see him at the Boston Museam of Fine Arts April 17th. Heide and I are psyched! Heide doesn't like to be out late on school nights but she's toughin' it out for this show.

Speaking of Heide, here we are the night beofre we got married. Did I mention I F-ing love this broad?

I know I haven't blogged in a bit. Works been workin' me and when I get home (after the gym, if I go to the gym) I usually like to eat dinner, have a beer, hang with the mrs then go to bed & read D&D books. But I hope to start writing more often. I'm sure I'll be writing more when I go out on the road again. OK, I'm starting to ramble senslessly so I'm'a shut up now.

So last year on Valentines day I sent Heide on a scavenger hunt which led her around New Haven then eventually back to her (we were not living together at the time) apartment. I was waiting for her with a decapitated stuffed monkey which had a diamond ring shoved up it's head. It was a very romantic day indeed!

This year I surpised Heide with a secret trip to NYC to see the Broadway musical Wicked. I got Heide the book as a present a while back and she loved it. Now I'm reading it. I gotta tell you, it's balls!! Such a great book so far!

Monday night we found out someone from Illinois got a hold of my debit card and charged over $1,000. What a fuggin' djagov! Cock sucker! Oh well, we got it all figured out & fixed so, fuck him.

I haven't posted any pictures in a while. I'll do so in my next post, promise.

Well, going out on the road again!

Back on January 1st I got promoted to the supreme title of "Catalog Sales Manager". What does that mean to you, the reader? Well, it means that I'm going to be out on the road more often selling to my company's customers who happen to sell our product through their catalog. My company makes anything from first aid boxes to small parts organizers to big-ass cabinets to home organizers. We sold a lot of stuff through "Martha By Mail" before she went to prison. Anyway...

Because I'm so new to this position, I have been working my ass off to let my accounts know that, "Hey! I'm your new contact". Next week is going to be a big week for me. Most of our big customers are out in the Wisconsin area and this is going to be my fist "Hello" to them. My boss & the guy who currently has these accounts will be joining me to introduce me as the new contact. I will be saying hello but I will also be quoting them new product and competitive product in hopes of getting more of our stuff into their catalogs.

I was hoping to have the past couple of weeks to work on these quotes (it's quite an involved process) but our biggest customer just had a "Line Review" (to you laymen & lay women that means they're taking a section of their catalog to review which vendors, if any, they should get rid of and who they should be replace by) which, if our product is accepted by this customer, could me 2.5mil more dollars for us. That's pretty damn big! That being said, everything else had to be put on the back burner so instead of having three weeks to prepare for my 1st big week out on the road I had a whopping 4 days. Mint.

I hope all of this is making sense. I had barely anything to eat today and as soon as I came home I slugged a Heineken so I'm feeling...relaxed.

Heineken is not my beer of choice. I prefer Guinness, Spaten, Bass, Blue Moon, Mich Ultra or Soporro. How good is beer? It's so yummy & relaxing! Seriously, I was at my breaking point today at work. I get so many interuptions. I fucking hate being interupted. I have so much work to do, I do have time to bullshit or make small talk with every person who happens by. Also, the past couple of days have been somewhat trying as Heide & I just found out that it's pretty obvious her Dad does not want to sell us his house. That's fine but, we were really banking on it and it seemed almost certain he wanted to do it too. I won't go on and on about the ins & outs of that, what I will say is that Heide and I are really psyched about buying another house, still in Guilford CT, but just not her Dad's house.

Also, some good news, I got some serious galling shit taken off of my credit report and I sent all three bureaus letters telling them to update everything so my credit report looks better to the lenders. I'm psyched! Heide's credit is awesome! Mine, not so much. but now that the really bad shit (that should never have been there in the first place) is gone, my report is bound to go up and we should be looking at a loan with a pretty low interest rate.

The Silkworm Cometh!

Our friends the Silkies (Rob & Aimee Silk), Just had their first baby on Saturday! I would like to welcome Lucinda Baker Silk into the world! Heide and I are so happy for them, but mostly jealous. Their birthing of miniature-human has lit a fire below our bums. We are determined to construct one of the pseudo-persons, like soon! We have three major goals this year:

1. Go to Jamaica to enjoy a last hoorah before buying a house & having a child
2. Buy a house. Wether it's Heide's dad's house or some other house in Guilford. We're buying a fucking house and no one is going to tell me different!
3. Plant a seed in Heide so she can grow loin-fruit

Heide wants one really good girl. I'm OK if we have 2 mediocre kids. One boy, one girl. Seriously though, Both our freinds the Stephensons and the Silkies now have little girls and for the love of Pete! How cool would it be if we had a little girl too!! I've been wanting to be a dad for so G-d damn long. I cannot wait!!!!

So, the weather guise are predicting 18"-24" of the CT shoreline. Mint. I love that all of the news stations are reporting on the snow only. All of the worlds troubles have ceased to make room for a New England snow storm. Huzzah! We win!

What's really great is Heide and I had some frozen pipes yesterday. That's fun. Actually it wasn't so bad, for us. Our landlord had to spend most of his days heating our pipes and blocking holes in our old a$$ house to stop this from happening again. We just drank Campari & Vodka and made some veggie stew while he fixed our pipage. It all worked out great actually...

We were supposed to have a little get together yesterday. Our friends SoMo, Mike & Erica were going to come by for a bout of Cranium, Baked Ziti and beer (followed up by some drunken karaoke (Man, can we sing "Wanted Dead or Alive"!!!). But alas, due to the weather, Heide's cold (that she's had in waves for the past 4 weeks) and our frozen pipe issues, we decided to cancel the festivities.

Well, in a little bit, we're going to head off to my father-in-law's house to shovel his driveway. Stay warm america.

Devin had asked if we saw anything from our ghost hunting adventchaaaa. Truth be told, no. We brought a tape recorder with us in hopes of catching some other-worldly voices but it was all for naught. Actually, we thought we had some odd whispering saying "..take our picture..." but we both decided it was probably Heide telling me to take a piture of something, just real quiet-like.

My band Kimono Draggin' was supposed to play and Anti-George Bush inagural-yadda-dadda-dee-da show in Danbury (CT) on Thursday. It was originally supposed to play at a club called the Hat City Ale House. The Owner suggested she never knew that it was going to be that type of a show so she cancelled it last minute! I guess everybody has freedon of speech, even club owners, oh well. The show ended up moving just down the road to a little fun dive bar called cousin larry's. We still rocked the house down. Finally home & eating brownies

Well, I got home Friday night. It's so nice to be home. I got home to a some good news. My sister finally sent a package that included the final ingredient to some brownies I've been wanting to make. These were "far-out" and yummy! I also picked up the new Iron & Wine CD which is pretty pretty & quite nice indeed.

Also, since I've been back, I finally got my Dungeons Master Screen to help me with my adventchahhh. Now I just have to get into it. Seriously, I started playing D&D back in the late 70's and played somewhat regularly until 1995 or 96'. By the help of my friends Sonny! & Moana (or SoMo as those in the know call them), I've gotten the D&D "FEVAR" once again. Last I played, D&D was up to the 2nd edition. Now the game is up to version 3.5 and so many of the rules have changed. So, when usually at night I like to read a nice novel, I've been reading up on all the new rules in the Player's Handbook & DM's guide. Now that I have the DM's screen my access to simple play rules will all br right there for me during game play so I can now start concentrating on the actual writing of the game. Did I mention I'm the DM (Dungeon Master)?

Well, my flight leaves at 7:10 to head back to CT. This is good news indeed. While I was out I got some good news from Heide. We've been trying-trying-trying to convince my father-in-law to sell us his house for quite some time now. There's a lot of detail to that story but I'm way to tired & drunk to start typing that one out. The point is: Heide spoke with him (his name is Peter, he's a such a great guy!) and he decided that us buying his house is probably the best solution to all of our problems. To make a long story shorty-short - His house is in shambles and needs some major fixing up. Heide & I need a house soon so's we can: A) further our adult lives together b) Start a family (and have a good time trying) and C) Peter could use the company. The way we're looking at it: we want to move in and have him as our roomate. He might want to move out on his own some time which would be cool too. The house is big enough so we wouldn't get in each other's way too-too much. but, if it became un-come-for-tah-blah for either party, we could build an inlaw apartment downstairs for him.

I've decided not to do spell check on this entry. I'm too tired, I've got to get up too early. But seriously, Heide and I have been dwelling on, working on and pining for us having this house. It's the house she grew up in. It's in a an amazingly beautiful part of CT (Guilford) with an excellent school system, etc... Yay! Adulthood, here we cum! <-- hehe

Day 5 in Chicago - Running ragged

Being out on the road is an odd thing. The travel is great and the work is different enough where it all seems like a nice change of pace. The restaurants out here in Chicago are 2nd to none (When it comes to american fare). All the days are seeming to sort of meld into one l-o-n-g day. And even at night, when it's time to wind down with some food & drink, all of the conversation seems to gravitate toward work so it's like I'm working 16 hour days.

I leave for home tomorrow morning with my incredibly anal co-worker who needs to get to airports 3 hours before the time of the flight (I'm exagerating a bit). I can't wait to come home, pet the kitties (Heide and I have four cats) and relax.

It all boils down to this: I miss Heide.

Promat 2005 - In Chicago & Missing Heide!

Hello!

Well, I'm in Chicago for this immense trade show called "Promat". This is where all the companies who make material handling equipment (Anything from hand trucks & shelving to people like Toyota) get together to show off their new products to distributors of material handling equipment. It's pretty exciting. From what I understand there will be about 40k people going through the doors of this trade show. It'sheld a a place here in Chicago called "McCormick Place". There 4 buildings and the sho is in on of the four. If I had to compare, sizewise, to anything (because I don't really know the square footage), I'd have to say that it's about 10 times the size of a football stadium (and that's the one building we're in, not including the other three buildings!). It's been fun. This is my first super big trade show (I was in one for 3 days a couple of months ago). I had a serious case of the shits during the show and actually had to excuse myself from a meeting with a customer I'd be dealing with very closely, just to make sure I didn't pass out in front of them and shit my drawers.

I'm missing Heide so much! It's wierd to wake up and not have her there right next to me. Loneliness blows.

I promised myself that'd I write in my blog while I was out here. I mostly always keep the promises to myself som here i am writing. We got to Chicago on Sunday and had to set up out booth. We had 19 pallets of product to unload and set up and that took us about 8 hours. Below are before & after pics of our set up. I'm going to sleep now. Word.

My first entry in my new bwog

Well this is my first entry into my Blog. I've been wanting to start up a blog for some time now but never really had an idea on what it should be about. I see my wife Heide doing her knitting blog all the time and to be honest, I was a bit jealous! Why does she get to have this cool ass, fun blog and not me?! The thing is, I've got so many interests in my life but I could not think of one in particular that I wanted to write about. So, I decided to write about everything & anything.

Here's the deal: I'm 31yrs old and I'm finally at a point in my life where I starting to feel like an adult. I just got married about 2.5 months ago, I just got promoted to this new position where I'll be traveling all over the US & Canada, Heide and I are in the midst of trying to buy a house (preferably her fathers house. That's a whole other bog in itself.) and now we're looking into retirement stuff like, IRA's & 401k's. Maybe I'm a late bloomer, who knows. But it's all hitting me at once and it's crazy. What's more is; I'm really enjoying it! I'm somewhat tired of living like a 20-something. I want a house, I want a kid. I want to worry about how Heide and I are going to save for our child's college education. I want to worry about how we're going to be when we're in our 50's and 60's, you know? I want to be those cool ass european looking elderly folks who travel the world and make their grandkids jealous about all the places we've been to.
